Draft: pending legal review

Draft pending legal review. These terms describe how the website works, including online booking and payment, which is being tested and isn’t open to customers yet. They will be finalised before online booking opens.

1. About us

Consult It is operated by Louis Neil Robertson, a sole trader based in Queensland, trading as Consult itt (ABN 75 433 133 622). Contact: help@consultit.com.au.

2. What Consult It does

Consult It is an online marketplace that introduces people and businesses to independent consultants. Consultants are not our employees or agents. They provide their services themselves and are responsible for them. Consult It doesn’t provide financial, legal, medical, psychological or other regulated professional services.

3. Who can use it

You must be 18 or older to send an enquiry, book a consultant or apply as a consultant.

4. Enquiries and matching

  • Sending an enquiry is free. It doesn’t create a booking, a contract or any obligation to buy.
  • Our matching questionnaire suggests consultants using a transparent, rules-based score. Suggestions aren’t recommendations or guarantees. Consult It doesn’t check live availability, and doesn’t guarantee any result.
  • The scope and timing of any work are agreed between you and the consultant.

5. Booking and paying online

Some consultants can be booked and paid for online. When a profile shows Book and pay:

  • You pay the session price shown on the profile, in Australian dollars, through Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe’s checkout page shows the total before you pay. There’s no booking or service fee on top.
  • You must accept these terms, our refund and cancellation policy and our privacy policy at checkout.
  • Your card details are handled by Stripe. Consult It never sees or stores your full card number. You can choose to let Stripe save your card for future bookings.
  • After you pay, the consultant contacts you to agree a session time. If you can’t agree a time, see the refund policy.
  • Consult It receives your payment and pays the consultant their share after the session. [Lawyer to confirm how this is framed: whether Consult It collects payment as the consultant’s limited payment collection agent or supplies the session itself. This affects GST and consumer law.]
  • Any promotion code must be entered at checkout, and can’t be used after payment.
  • Your receipt comes from Stripe by email. The charge appears on your statement as CONSULTIT.COM.AU or similar.

6. Prices and fees

  • Prices are set by each consultant, in Australian dollars. Prices on profiles without online booking are indicative, and the consultant confirms the total, including any GST, before you agree to anything.
  • Consult It doesn’t charge customers any booking, service or platform fee. Our fee is paid by the consultant out of the booking amount.

7. Cancellations, refunds and payment disputes

Our refund and cancellation policy explains when you can cancel and get a refund. If something has gone wrong, please contact us at help@consultit.com.au before disputing a payment with your bank, so we can try to fix it quickly.

8. Profiles and reviews

  • Profile information comes from consultants. We verify identity, ABN and relevant credentials before a profile goes live. Identity for payouts is also verified by Stripe.
  • We only publish reviews from customers who completed an engagement, and we never edit reviews or pay for them.
  • Sample profiles, shown while we onboard our first consultants, are clearly labelled and don’t describe real people. Sample profiles can’t be booked.

9. Using the website

Please don’t misuse the website, send false information, or try to break its security. The website’s design, text and logo belong to us or our licensors (see Credits and licences).

10. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including the consumer guarantees. [Lawyer to draft the limitation of liability wording and check these terms against the unfair contract terms regime.]

11. Privacy

How we handle personal information, including payment information, is explained in our privacy policy.

12. Complaints and disputes

Contact help@consultit.com.au and we’ll respond within 10 business days. For a dispute about a consultant’s services, we’ll help you raise it with the consultant and apply our refund policy.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
